Congratulations to Emerson, Hayes, Lincoln and Roosevelt elementary schools on being honored by Gov. Mike DeWine in his new Governor’s Science of Reading Recognition Program, which recognizes schools who have aligned their curriculum with the Science of Reading, embraced professional development for teachers and raised literacy achievement among students. Our four schools were among 47 schools recognized by the governor.

The Lakewood City Schools and the Lakewood Rangers Education Foundation (LREF) have been awarded a $30,000 grant from Howmet Aerospace Foundation that will be dedicated to purchasing 3D printers for our seven elementary STEM classrooms. This is the fourth Howmet grant LREF has received to benefit Lakewood students.

Congratulations to Emerson Elementary, which has won an Ohio PBIS Bronze Recognition Award for 2023! The award is sponsored by the State Support Team for Region 3 and the Ohio PBIS Network. PBIS Award winners' PBIS efforts were evaluated in the areas of student expectations, behavior and discipline; teacher expectations; faculty, student and family involvement; and evaluation processes. Congratulations to the school’s PBIS team!
